Oh my goodness!
Oh what I site! I was addicted immediately. I didn't know how to bind off and I barely knew how to cast on and knit a stitch but Ravelry was there and all of a sudden I was like a kid in a candy store.
So what is Ravelry? It is a Knit and Crochet community of wonderfully fantastic and creative people that share their projects, patterns, ideas, and knowledge. If you crochet (which I give you kudos for as I can't figure it out) or knit then check it out if you haven't already.
I love spending time cruising around Ravelry and I've spent many an evening getting sucked up into pattern browsing. It's a 'must' resource for me. I love that I can search for patterns by the type or by yarn and see all of the wonderful variations people have done. And for those who put notes with their projects I get golden nuggets of knowledge that help when I move forward. I don't always have easy access to some of the yarn patterns call for so Ravelry let's me see what other yarns have been used and I can normally find something that I can grab.
As a fairly new knitter, Ravelry and the knitters on it, are a huge inspiration for me and have kept me enthused about this new hobby of mine.
I'll admit that I don't keep my queue very organized (heck, it's not even a little organized). When I see a pattern I like, I add it to the queue. I should probably use the favorite option instead but I haven't been doing that. I don't know if I'll ever make the things in my queue, some are much more advanced than I am ready for, but I like to go back and look at them and dream 'maybe someday'. I do document all of my projects though I may not be quick with the picture and I sometimes don't add them until I am finished as I've had a lot of starts and few finishes over the past year and I like to view my projects as things I've accomplished that helps keep me going, rather than seen a bunch of unfinished or frogged projects.
I should be knitting my current project but I often find myself browsing for the next project. I'll admit it...I'm addicted to Ravelry. The good news is that I know I'm not the only one out there.
You can find me on Ravelry and check out what I'm up to (profile: Kaffeinadikt)
